Local GMNA Groups
We have developed two support groups during Phase 1 of our project. Both these groups are aimed at service users with any type of neurological condition, and/or their carers. The purpose of these groups is to provide information, advice and support as well as a chance to relax and meet new friends.
BURY NEURO SUPPORT
This group (funded by a grant from Bury Metro’s Community Fund) was launched in November 2006, and meets on the second Thursday of most months between 4 pm and 6 pm. We normally invite a guest speaker for the first half of the session followed by light refreshments and activities. It has recently been asked to provide user comments on service provision and plans. It is a very informal and friendly bunch, and new members are always welcome. We have some community transport available to help people get to and from the meetings, though spaces are limited. Bury Neuro Support also has occasional trips out, usually one in the summer and one in the winter.
Venue: Bishops Ashton Room, Bury Parish Church Hall, Silver Street, Bury BL9 0LA

NEURO SUPPORT 4 SALFORD
This group (supported by a grant from the Booth Charities) was launched in March 2006 and meets on the fourth Friday of most months between 11am and 1pm. We normally invite a guest speaker for the first part of the meeting, followed by light refreshments. It is an informal and relaxed meeting, and new members are always welcome.
Venue: BASIC - Brain and Spinal Injury Centre, 554 Eccles New Road, Salford, M5 5AP.
Please contact us for any further information about these groups.
